What's On in Somerset during August
28th July - Dunster Country Fair. The fair aims to promote country sports and the country way of life by bringing together horses, hounds and dogs of every description, a fine range of country pursuits, activities and amusements are available for young and old alike.
30th July to 1st August - Bristol Harbour Festival, Bristol's liveliest and largest Harbourside event.
4th August - Playday for Children at Ninesprings Park, Yeovil. FREE to all. Various activities incl Climbing wall, community activity bus, BBC Somerset bus, Circus skills and Eduzoo Animal Encounters
6th & 7th August - Taunton Flower Show. The premiere event of its type with large floral and competitive marquees, craft and food hall marquees, rural craft area, over 100 trade stands and arena entertainments. Features show gardens, competitive classes for fruit, veg and flowers, arts & crafts, garden orientated traders and a childrens zone.
7th & 8th August - Glastonbury Music Extravaganza. Held evey year since 1996, Glastonbury Extravaganza is a 2 day music festival set in the historic and dramatic grounds of Glastonbury Abbey.
7th August - Nunney Street Fayre. A lively street fair with over 100 stalls, crafts, entertainers and live music.
11th August - Red Arrows & Red Devils in Minehead. The famous Red Arrows will be showcasing their spectacular aerobatic air display against the backdrop of Minehead Bay and will be raising funds for Guide Dogs and the Blind and RNLI. The Red Devils Parachute team will also be performing.
20th August - Dunster Show. Set on the lawns below Dunster Castle, this country show features some spectacular entertainment and plenty of shopping opportunities as well as cattle, sheep and horses classes.
22nd August - Mark Moor International Vehicle Festival. A gathering of vintage, cars, trucks, bikes, military, tractors, sports and modified vehicles. Delicious food and bar available.
